The Willy Wonka Experience

This 29×18 inch piece is screen printed on gallery stock. The imagery is a mish-mash of pop culture allusions. There’s the obvious nod to our favorite candy-man, Willy Wonka. There’s also a nod to another guy with wild hair and crazy clothes: that voodoo brewer of audio-candy, Mr. Hendrix. Those of you well-versed in rock-and-roll visuals will recognize that iconic pose depicted on the print.

About this imagery, Jermaine says:
“At the end of his legendary performance at the Monterrey Pop Festival in 1967, Jimi said he wanted to sacrifice something to the crowd…something special, which was an extension of himself. So, he gave them his guitar.

Wonka gave the most special thing he could give. He gave his ‘candy-man’ power away. Literally, he gave his factory to the people…the good people, at least.” -j.r.

From an edition of only 75 signed and numbered prints.

This 29×18 inch screen printed poster was commissioned for the show on Nov. 17th. The exclusive artist edition is printed on white pearlescent gallery stock with slight color variations from the print which sold out at the show. The imagery is a fun mish-mash of pop culture allusions. There’s the obvious nod to our favorite candy-man, Willy Wonka (Wilder, thank you…NOT Depp). There’s also a nod to another guy with wild hair and crazy clothes: that voodoo brewer of audio-candy, Mr. Hendrix. Those of you well-versed in rock-and-roll visuals will recognize that iconic pose depicted on the print.

Imagine the trauma of being a child separated from all that you know – parents, possessions and home – and not having anything to cling to for comfort. Sadly, each year, hundreds of thousands of children here in the United States must be rescued from severe abuse, neglect or abandonment. Traumatized and facing an uncertain future, they frequently enter shelters and foster care with nothing – no personal belongings, no favorite stuffed animal, no special blanket. They are afraid, disoriented, and desperate for comfort. That’s where My Stuff Bags Foundation comes in.

The My Stuff Bags Foundation, with the help of thousands of people across the country, provide these unfortunate children with things they need to help them settle into their new environments, such as clothes, toys, toiletries, stuffed animals, and a security blanket. My Stuff Bags has provided bags to more than 320,000 children in 49 states since it began in 1998. For more information, go to: www.mystuffbags.org

Jermaine adds:
‘I first heard of this organization a couple of months ago and thought it was amazing. They provide one of the most caring and simple acts of kindness and love that one could offer to a child whose life has been turned upside down. I’d hope that if you can find it in your heart (and if you can afford it), you’ll purchase one of these ‘Frosty’ Primus variants. I’ll send the profits from the sale of this variant edition directly to My Stuff Bags Foundation as a charitable donation. You get a nice thing that you dig and so will these children. Thanks in advance.’ – j.r.

Widespread Panic – Austin City Limits 2014

Night one ‘Frida’ : Measuring 24×18 inches on gallery white stock, this 7 color screen print features rich color and a striking illustration based on one of Jermaine’s heroes, Frida Kahlo.

Jermaine explains:
‘I’ve done some of my ‘nature women’ illustrations for previous WSP prints. These beings are radiate their femininity and independence. They mirror the goddess feminine in the Universe…at one with nature, sprouting growth and bloom from their very bodies. This time, I wanted to render this same idea by celebrating a true life specimen, and a hero of mine: artist Frida Kahlo. To me, she was the ultimate natural cosmic female. Bold. Uncompromising. In your face. Unconcerned with what you thought was cool or ‘in’, or how you may have thought she looked…or ‘should’ look. She was ‘true’. Fiercely so. Her ‘third eye’ was wide open. I felt it was a fitting subject for such a driven and uncompromising band like Widespread Panic.
She was beautiful power.’

From a signed and numbered edition of only 75 pieces.

Night two ‘Mark Twain’:
Measuring 24×18 inches on gallery white stock, this 7 color screen print features rich color and another striking illustration featuring Mr. Mark Twain.

Jermaine explains:
‘I love that lyric, ‘If it feels good, we shake.’ I know that WP band member Dave Schools shares my love of Mark Twain. That lyric from the song ‘Pilgrim’ sounds just like something Twain would say…because Twain was a ‘just because’ kind of guy. Just like rock-n-roll is a ‘just because’ kind of music. There’s not enough Twain on rock and roll posters. Not enough dancing bunnies, either.’

From a signed and numbered edition of only 75 pieces.

Nine Inch Nails – Texas 2014

Measuring approx. 30×20 inches, this piece is printed on gallery cream stock and showcases semi-metallic inks and a lovely gradient fade. The ambiguity of the imagery is striking.

Jermaine comments:
‘There definitely is a feeling of grief and vulnerability radiating from this artwork, but also power and a dynamic amount of control. You can get roped into things, and go on for some time in circumstances that are manipulative, unhealthy, or just unhappy. There is the idea that, in a variety of ways, the option to ‘disconnect’ is always there for anyone to choose.’

From a signed and numbered edition of only 75 pieces.

My Brother Was A Hero

This place…these ancient woods that surround you: they belong to us. The trees that loom about you, silently granting you shelter and sustenance. The solitary, sun-spotted clearings where you filled the days of your youth with horseplay and dreaming. The cool streams snaking through this fertile landscape, where you quenched your thirst and bathed your body. It is outs. A sacred birthright.

And it is worth any sacrifice.

Live Suspiciously.

Editions:

This 8″ tall figure was produced with Kidrobot and comes in two colorways: Standard BROWN and a “chase” BLACK.
