Puscifer – Prescott 2015

Jermaine was commissioned to create the print for the final date of the recent tour by the amazing band PUSCIFER, the side project of TOOL front-man Maynard James Keenan. It was the second print that Jermaine created for the tour. This tour was quite a road-show, featuring luchadors (Mexican wrestlers), sideshow entertainment, and of course the amazing musical performance by the band. The amazing artist, ZOLTRON organized an amazing group of hand-picked artists for the Puscifer 2015 tour poster series. Maynard requested that participating artists consider incorporating some of his current vices into the imagery of their print: namely the Mexican wrestling theme, wine, and the desert.

Keeping this in mind, for the final print of the tour Jermaine chose to offer an image with throwback appeal. Nearly 20 years ago, Jermaine created a print for a 1990’s era show by Maynard’s other band, Tool. The now iconic ‘devil boxer’ imagery provided Jermaine with an idea.

He mentions:
‘So, I decided to have some fun and create a throwback image…a nod to an older piece which I made nearly 20 years ago for one of Maynard’s other bands. It seemed like a nice way to end the Puscifer 2015 poster series, and a lovely way to prepare for what Maynard is about to get into next. Our svelte, red guy with the sharp horns has taken off the boxing gloves & pulled on the luchador mask, these days. Apparently, he’s decided that his training routine needs to get a bit more ‘hands on’…anything to get a leg-up in the Judgement Day ‘brawl-for-it-all’. That said, he still knows how to take a break: a quiet moment with a smoke and a glass of wine. And not just any old swill, either. Nothing but the good stuff. He’s got class.’ – jr

Puscifer – Austin 2015

Jermaine Rogers was recently commissioned to create a poster, for the amazing band Puscifer and their show in Austin, TX.

The band (a side-project of TOOL front-man Maynard James Keenan) has just released a new album, and the current tour is one of the most talked about in recent months. When commissioning artwork, Maynard requested that, if possible, a Luchador (Mexican wrestler) theme could be worked into the imagery. Jermaine obliged, showcasing a mighty ‘Lucha libre’ warrior in the desert at twilight, opening his mind and embracing his oneness with everything around him…all with the assistance of a little ‘desert button’ (aka) peyote. The image is printed using warm, rich inks…for an earthy and surreal look which hums with vibrancy.

Measuring approx. 30×22 inches poster is printed on French speckletone cream stock. Signed and numbered by Jermaine, from a very limited edition of only 50 pieces.

Run The Jewels – Houston 2015

Jermaine was delighted to create a print for RUN THE JEWELS, one of the most forward-thinking bands on the scene today. The imagery incorporates the trademark hand-symbols that serve as the band’s logo: the hand-gestures depict the sign of a gun with one hand, while the other hand symbolically holds ‘the jewels’. The ‘stick-up’ street phrase, ‘Run the jewels!’ (which was also an old LL Cool J lyric), is tantamount to saying, ‘Give me your valuables NOW!’.

When asked why they chose this phrase as the name of the band, Killer Mike and El-P responded:
‘When I hear ‘Run the Jewels’, I see the cast of Reservoir Dogs walking out of that diner together. It is tough-as-nails rap music without being belligerent or unnecessarily coarse. It’s just dope, fun, real, raw rap shit.’ (Killer Mike) 
‘It was also a nod to the records. That was the era that made me and Mike fall in love with rap music. For us, this project is about that. This whole project is really about our love for rap music.’ (El-P)

Jermaine took this opportunity to showcase the squirrels, newly seen beings in his woodland universe.

He comments:
‘In the dense wood, the squirrels are eternal hustlers. Always searching, always looking, always on the run. They have no allegiances, no long-term alliances or treaties with any other animals of the forest. They are beholden to no one but themselves, their own families and communities. From high above the floor of the forest, they watch and plan and plot…above the heads of all the other animals. From treetops, they decide…you dig it? And then they TAKE. 

I thought they fit this print and the aesthetic of RTJ perfectly. I love this band and have been friendly with certain individuals in their ‘family’ for several years. It rules to finally do something ‘official’ with them. Hands down (in my opinion) one of the most important, most kick-ass bands on the scene…and really nice guys.’ – jr

The Exchange

Measuring 30×21 inches and printed on French soft pink gallery stock, ‘The Exchange’ features an intimate look at a very disturbing situation, occurring on the edge of the little forest.

Everything has a price. But, what are you willing to spend? Little animals have to weigh their options very carefully, these days…because grudges can be nasty things, and no one really ever forgets. 

This imagery was used for a recent FOO FIGHTERS tour print, and was a favorite of many collectors. The image is printed with rich colors, including a golden metallic. From a very limited edition of only 60 signed and numbered pieces.

TEST PARCHMENT – We have 8 to 10 test copies which were run on parchment stock. Since these are ‘test’ pieces, there may be minor inconsistencies from one print to the next. NO ‘REGULAR’ PARCHMENT edition of this print was produced: the only way to receive this full-size print on parchment stock is to obtain one of these few TEST pieces. Foo Fighters – Atlanta 2015

Jermaine Rogers was asked to create the print for the Foos recent appearance in Atlanta, Georgia. Measuring approx. 30×21 inches, it is screen printed on French Speckletone White gallery stock with rich inks, including a gold metallic!
Regarding the imagery, Jermaine says:

Foo Fighters – Oklahoma City 2015

The Foo Fighters commissioned Jermaine Rogers to create the print for their recent appearance in Oklahoma City, OK. Measuring approx. 30×22 inches, it is screen printed on a lovely Pearl-finish gallery stock. The image is full of tributes: to Dave Grohl, to his amazing band, and also to another band which Dave has mentioned as a huge personal influence (and a favorite band of Jermaine’s, as well), the band Rush.

About the imagery, Jermaine says:
‘This entire Foo tour seems to be about worshiping at the altar of rock-and-roll. Worshiping the gods of the music. It’s no surprise that Dave Grohl really gets the need for his fans to have access and interaction. He attempts to make real ‘contact’…at least as much as is reasonable. The artwork for this print was done in that spirit. Grohl understands ‘fans’ of the rock-and-roll religion, because he is one himself.

The Candyman

Used on the final print of the Wonka-themed ‘Primus & The Chocolate Factory’ tour, this striking artwork is also finally made available as a very limited art print. This piece measures 24×18 inches and is printed on gallery white stock.

Primus – Los Angeles 2015

Jermaine Rogers was commissioned by Primus to create the final print for their amazing Primus & The Chocolate Factory Tour in Los Angeles, Ca. The ‘Willy Wonka’ themed tour has produced a ton of amazing gig poster art over the last several months, including 2 earlier ones by Jermaine. The artist was proud to be asked by the legendary band to wrap up an amazing tour with a limited edition print.
